Tuesday Teapotters - Orchids

I haven't made it to a teaparty in a couple of months due to a busy summer schedule.  I had to make this one, because we're going to VA to visit my brother.  Shortly after retiring from the Navy last year (which he served for 23 years), he found another bump on his back (the second one within a year).  In February they removed an eye shape 4x1 inch selection from his back.  It was a cyst that surrounded a lymph node - skin cancer.  Due to the treatment my brother cannot work during the year.  The teapotters are bringing him some cheer.

Even though he was in the Navy and a big tough guy, he has a love for orchids.  He has more than 30 orchids in his apartment.  They are so beautiful!!

Here's the inspirational teapot:

What a cute teapot!!!

The airplane teapot is because he worked on planes, jets, helicopters, and other Navy aircrafts.  I decided to go with the story of the orchid that was written for the teapotters and save my fighter jet plane card for his birthday next month.

The digital image is from Just Inklined called Wild Orchids.  Using water color pencils and regular color pencils to color in my image.  Yuupp, they are my favorite.  I know it's looks a little feminine with all the pink, but I wanted to complement the image.   I also know he is man enough to rock the pink.

Anyone can join a teaparty.  Once you join one, you are a teapotter.  It's always feels good to send some lovin to people who need it.  Just want to say thanxs to all the teapotters who are participating in this teaparty.  Thank You!!

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog #10 -Just A Bit Sketchy

It's hard to believe the summer is half way over already....time flies by so fast.  I'm not ready for summer to end, even though fall is my favorite season.

I hope you are ready for another challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  We are getting sketchy this time.  Sketch challenges are my favorite.

We are being sponsored by Delicious Doodles this challenge and they are giving the winner 4 images of choice.

Here is the sketch:

As you can tell, I flipped the sketch to it's side.  I used the digital stamp In The Harbour by Delicious Doodles.  I love the way this came out.  I used watercolor pencils first, then regualr color pencils to add more details.  After the coloring was done the struggle came with finishing the card. I had no idea where to take it or what papers I was going to use.

I'm very happy with the finish project.  Most of the papers were scraps I had in my scrap boxes from previous projects.  I found a piece of map paper and knew it would be perfect.  Can't go wrong with blues and grays for boats either.  Then I added some burlap for some texture.

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog - #9 Anything Goes!!

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog - #9 Anything Goes.  I know I could have done anything for this challenge, but a card was calling my name.  My oldest son did in-line speed skating for years.  I really enjoyed watching the skaters.  Before I knew about in-line speed skating, I grew up watching skateboarders.  If they had the passion for it, they were beautiful to watch.  Very smooth almost elegant to a point, if you can say that about skate boarding.

Our challenge is being sponsored by The Crafting Boutique.

The winner of this challenge will receive a $10 gift certificate.

I used the Kenny K image Airborne for my card.  They have a couple of different skateboarding images, but I like this one.

It couldn't be a skateboarding card without skulls and crossbones. It's gotta look dangerous!! The paper is from Echo Park and I won it from my friend Julie over at Muddy Paws and Inky Fingers her blog hop, blog candy.  Threw in some chevrons to pop in some color.  Few squared brads in the corner.  It's not actually the way I envisioned it, but it works.

Here is the inside.
This is for a great skaterboarder - Ty !!!
