Scrapping4fun #36 Colors of Country Flag

I hope everyone is staying warm, we got a cold snap here and I'm not liking it.  It's also the best time to cook and do some crafting.  We have another challenge for you at Scrapping4fun.  For the next 2 weeks, we would like to see you make a project using the colors in your country flag.   Just a little tidbit, the most popular colors used for flags, are red, white and blue according to the Flag Institute.

Here's my card.  I'm from the United States of America and the colors are red, white and blue.

I went ahead and made a patriotic card, maybe to send to a serviceman.  This little Bugaboo image Brat-Liberty I thought was perfect, since she is posing the Statue of Liberty.  I colored her with my water color and regular color pencils.  The sentiment is from Unity Stamp Co. 

I almost didn't add the star dp, but it seemed a little plain without it.  Since there are stars on the flag to represent each state, stars seem like a must.

For this challenge I got to work with Lacy Sunshine, Rory Playing Hookey.  I think these images are so darn cute.  I was a little bit of a tomboy growing up, so I can relate to these images.  I colored her with my water color and regular color pencils.  After I attached the image to the purple square behind, did I realize I forgot to sponge the sky.  So very carefully, I sponged the sky with some clouds.  I put the "thinking of you" sentiment, because if she's playing hookey, she must be thinking of someone.

Scrapping 4 Fun #35 Vintage

Hello again!  I loved seeing all the projects in the LOVE challenge, there are some very talented crafters out in blogland.  Are you ready for another challenge at Scrapping4fun?  For the next 2 weeks, we want to see vintage projects.

I will admit, I struggle with vintage.  It's very close to shabby chic and I love both, but creating them is a challenge for me.

Here's what I came up with.

I colored the image Vintage Slip from A Day for Daisies.  At one time this was a free image, but it's no longer available :o(.  The image was colored with water color and regular color pencils.  Some distress ink was sponged around the outer edge of the die-cut.  I added some satin ribbon on the corners.

I found this metal birdcage in my stash, thought it was perfect with the birds in the image.   Pearls and roses seem like a vintage thing and I found this perfect flourish in my stash too.  Thank goodness for hoarding "a few things".  I tried to stick to very mute colors in my papers.  I hope my take on vintage inspires you.

For this challenge, I got to work with the image Bride & Groom from Stamps on Fire.  I went with some classic colors of red, black and white.  The little bit of coloring was done with my water color and regular color pencils.  I added some rhinestones around the flowers and Stickles for some bling.
