Tuesday Teapotter - The Best They Can Be..

This week the Teapotters are crashing another birthday being the best they can be at the Women's Ministry Tea!  Destination is Madison, AL for Dorothea, mother of fellow Teapotter.  Challenge, just recently re-diagnosed with cancer, we are looking for cards with flowers, the Bible, puzzles, mysteries, church hymns or classical music. Here's the inspirational teapot:

The card I created.

Very simple card again this week.  I was recently given the handmade paper with flower petals and some leaves. I stamped one edge of the paper with the Worn Music by Unity, since music seems to be a big part of Dorothea's life. Uncertain where to go from there with this card, I knew I wanted to use the cross brads I've had sitting in my craft closet for awhile. I decided to use flowers I had and put the cross in the middle of my flowers.  Stamped happy birthday on the front and decided I was done. I didn't want to cover up too much of the beautiful handmade paper.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

MFT #90 Challenge Sketch

Finally posting my MFT Wednesday sketch challenge. Fall is coming and coming fast. I've made pumpkin bread, stew and Jambalaya already.  My favorite time of the year. Time for the sketch:

Here's my card using the sketch:

I finally used the Once Upon A Time Jolinne for my image.  MFT is discontinuing this line of stamps which is sad, she is a cute girl.  Nothing real fancy with this card, just a lot of paper cutting into the right shapes and coloring with watercolors and color pencils.

Thanks for looking and reading :o)

Unity Friends with Flair

I have a couple of Unity projects this week.  First being the Ribbon Carousel Challenge from earlier this week, as well as the sorry card I made for a friend.  Yep, the third card finally getting posted.  I knew when I made it, this was the one to post for Unity Friends with Flair.

Using the Unity The Time is Now Stamp for the image and the Unity HeartFelt Sympathy for the sentiment.  I masked off the tree to sponge in the clouds.  Wrapped some floss around the bottom and added a wooden button.  It was a very simple card.

iSpy Sketches ISSC33

Three cards, three challenges.  This time I used the iSpy Sketches for my sketch design for my card.  There are way too many challenges, just picking what I like. Here's the sketch for this week:

Thought this was a neat sketch to try.  Here's my take on it:

I used MFT Just My Type stamp and die-cut set for this card.  Stampin' Up for the deep red paper and black, the rest was scraps. Instead of making the strips all the same width, the gradually get smaller.  I used Tim Hotz tissue paper for the center of each strip.

paper used: SU and scraps

die-cut: MFT Just My Type

embellishments: Ribbon Carousel KOM for August ribbon, Tim Hotz Tissue Paper-Journeyman

Mojo Monday Sketch

A friend of mine is in need of some apology / sorry cards.  She apologizes more than she should just to keep the peace with her HOA.  I thought if I'm making cards, I might as well make them for some challenges too.  I have been wanting to try the Monday Mojo sketch for a while, so my first card I made was using this week's sketch challenge.

Here's my take on the sketch.

I used MFT I'm So Sorry Jolinne (i'm sad to say they are no longer carrying this line) for my image.  Stampin' Up paper was used for the most part.  I'm unsure about the tan paper, I picked it up somewhere.....not sure. The pearl embellishment I found awhile back is by Prima Marketing.  Hopefully this card will win them over.

Tuesday Teapotters are Going to a Wedding

A fellow Teapotter's daughter is getting married and we are crashing the wedding with cards this week.  The wedding is elegant and CAS cards are wanted.  Cream and gold are the colors to use.  Here's the inspirational teapot:

I created a CAS, which can be difficult to do sometimes.

I used Stampin Up stamps to create this card.  The gold vellum paper was an anniversary gift from my husband years ago and finally a perfect project to use it.  The ribbon was from a dear friend's wedding we attended in Greece in 2010.  That was a totally different experience all together.  We had so much fun at that wedding.  This ribbon is making it to another wedding.

Well wishes are inside for the bride and groom.  Bringing a cake was part of the challenge.

stamps used: SU Blissful Bride, Well Scripted, God's Blessings

paper used:  unsure - no tags or printing on them

die-cut:  MFT Rounded Banner Stax

embellishments: Martha Stewart Pearls, reused special ribbon

Ribbon Carousel CC70

I bought ribbon from this company and have purchased 3 months of ribbon of the month club. I'll tell you, I'm in love with the ribbon I've received and have already used most of them in my projects.  I was excited to find out that they have challenges.  The first challenge I'm entering for Ribbon Carousel is a smypathy card.  I didn't have any made (some reason we have been using them lately) and need some to add to my stock pile of cards.

I have plenty of scrap cardstock needing to be used, so this whole card is from scraps.  I used Unity Stamps for the image and sentiments.  The ribbon is from Ribbon Carousel.   It is a wonderful cloudy day here, so the pictures to me are on the dark side.  I sponged around the distressed light purple paper and fussy cut the leaves for the branch and the bird.

I copied in the outside of the card inside.

stamps used: Unity-Precious Things, Heartfelt Sympathy

paper used:  even though they were scraps, the paper was Brazzill and Printed Tissue by Recollections

embellishments: Ribbon by Ribbon Carousel: Sage Cotton Twill and August kit of the month

Friends with Flair

On Fridays, Unity Stamp Co has Friends with Flair to showcase what their customers create with their stamps.  They do give away two prizes, so check it out!  Usually I already created something from another challenge during the week, but this week I created a card just for the challenge. It's a very simple card!!

I've been wanting to use this stamp of the week for awhile and it has been waiting patiently.  Having the Memory Makers colorful staples was just what was needed too.

MFT #89 Sketch Challenge

Another sketch challenge from MFT !!  It's great getting out the crafty things and making cards more often, doing challenges has gotten me there.  Here's this week sketch:

Here's my take on this week's sketch.  I finally inked up MFT Pure Innocence Little Shutterbug, isn't she cute.  My husband is "My Little Shutterbug", he takes some awesome pics. The Parthenon on top of my page is his pic shot from our hotel.  Anyway, I had to use the Tim Hotz Film Ribbon I found months ago to go with this card.  It was perfect !!

The background printed paper was a .15 cent discounted paper.  Lucky me !!

From this angle she looks like she is taking a picture of me.  I really wanted a close-up of the film ribbon.
The image was colored by my favorite water color pencils and plain color pencils.

Paper Used: Bazzill, Chocolate Lovers Pack, Discounted Paper

Teapot Tuesday - 110 Birthday Party

This week the Teapotter are celebrating Eula's 110th birthday in PA.  This will be the third year the teapotters have sent cards to Mrs. Eula.  Can you imagine the changes she has seen over the years, WOW!!  What an amazing life!!

No actual teapot this week, just a beautiful drawing for inspiration.  Our challenge is to create a card of how we celebrate birthdays in our family.

The last couple of years, celebrating a birthday means going to SAS and getting cupcakes or maybe an icecream cake.  We always celebrate with our little "family" here, since we live away from our family. Here's my card of celebrating a birthday:

Yes, I big ole' cupcake.  I had to finally break in my Sizzix cupcake die-cut.  The ribbon on the side is actually 2 ribbons.  There is a lace ribbon under the cupcake ribbon. Fiber ribbon was used on the icing of the cupcake.  I even put more cupcake ribbon inside the card.  I wanted to make sure it was about the cupcakes.  I had some leftover pearls from a project and decided to use them on the cupcake paper.  Then I doodled on the edge of the red cardstock, because it needed somethin ;o).

Here's the card with the envelope.

Thank for looking and reading :o)

what i used:

die-cuts: Sizzix-Cupcake

embellishments: Sugar n' Spice Ribbon (Michael's)-cupcake ribbon, Ribbon Carousal-lace ribbon, EK Success-Adornments Fibers, SU-pearls

MFT #88 Sketch Challenge

Finally getting to post my MFT sketch challenge card, it's been done, just finally posting to the blog. This week's sketch was a fun sketch to work with. Here's the sketch:

Here's my card using the sketch.

I thought of some many possibilities for this sketch, but music is in my heart and that's the direction I went.  I used MFT Heart Sing Jolinne stamp for my main image.  On the triangle piece I used Unity Worn Music stamp, which I embossed in white.  Then I took Real Red ink from SU and sponged over the top of it to make the white pop a little more.  The red ribbon was from the August kit of the month from Ribbon Carousal, then I added music adhesive tape down the center of the ribbon by Tim Hotz .

Teapot Tuesday - Butterflies and Flowers

Flowers and butterflies are going to Brenda in PA who was hit head on by another car coming into her lane.  This is a Tuesday Teapotter Challenge of Beulah Ferris' Day Off, Beulah the butterfly.  This is the teapot inspiration:

This is the outside of the card and a little of the envelope front corner.  Sometimes the envelope needs to be dressed up too.  Lots going on with this card.  I took white cardstock and rolled blue ink on top and green on the bottom, then diluted glue to brush over top.  I laid printed tissue paper on top of the glue, then brushed the diluted glue on top of the tissue paper.  After it was dried I stamped some butterflies and then spray gold mist on top.  The rest of the card is stamps and die-cuts.

The inside needed an encouraging script.  Just needed more flowers and a butterfly.
