Tickle a Teapotter

Tuesday is here and that means only one thing, Teapot Tuesday !!!  This week we are challenged with the weather, because let's face it, the weather has been weird lately.  It's been HOT, HOT, HOT here!  The destination, to a fellow teapotter, to show we care about each other and appreciate what they do for others by sharing their cards.  We also get extra cookies if we can make a card about the weather that is related to a song.  Oh yeah !!!  Of course the song that came to my mind, "It's Raining Men", a childhood favorite that reminds me of my dad (I should get lots of extra cookies for this).  Yes, I remember those days he tried to sing in a high pitch squeal, socks pulled up to his knees and the shortest shorts he could possibly wear.  Now, he dances like a Backstreet Boy doing their song "Bye-Bye".  Now that you can't get that image out of your mind, let's take a look a my card.

I know, you were probably hoping for some real sexy guys, but this is a fun card !!!  Let's get down to what it took to make this card.

Stamps Used:  SU-All in the Family(the guys), Unity-KOM Feb 2012 (watermark raindrops) & Rain and Flowers (umbrella)

Paper: Basic Paper-breaker Bay, some scraps

Die Cut: MFT Cloud Trio

I did cut out the clouds twice with two different colors to give them some depth. I hand wrote the sentiment on a cloud.  Not too bad for a fun challenge.

I hope you enjoyed my Raining Men card.  Thanxs for looking !!

Getting Sketchy

Getting Sketchy with MFT again!!! On Wednesday the new sketch is revealed and you have until noon the following Tuesday to entered.  Here's the sketch this week:

Of course I used a MFT Pure Innocence Stamp this week and lots of vibrant colors.  The paper came from my endless supply of discounted cardstock.  I'm serious when I say endless supply.  Guarantee a 1000 plus cardstock sheets are in my craft closet.  I even reused ribbon from one of my sons birthday gifts from years past on this card.  Yes, I'm one of those people who carefully unwraps a gift so I can save the pretty paper.

Anyway, let's get on with the card.  Here's my take on the sketch this week.

Stamp Used: MFT PI Piggy Bank, Sentiment came with the July VIP Collection only with this stamp set

Paper Used: Polka Dots-TPC Studio B-Day Party Dots, the rest was scraps or discounted paper

Die Cut: MFT Mini Tabs Foursome

Ribbon: Recycle, reused from son's b-day gift

Of course, a penny from the piggy bank

I used watercolor pencils to color in the image.

Well, thanks for looking and reading.

I do want to leave with a blog that was inspiring:

Teapot Tuesday Challenge

I thought I would try another challenge from the Teapot Tuesday gals.  It was a lot of fun last week!!  This week they are looking for a "manly" card to go to a gentleman in a care facility in Canada.  He doesn't get visitors and some cards from a group a spunky gals is in order. The teapots this week were solid color teapots of manly colors; rusty brown, dark green, and cream color. Nothing says manly like TOOLS !!  Ar Ar Ar (my Tim Allen tool bark there).  That was my inspiration for my card.
This is Sol's card

close-up of the tools

I got A LOT of cardstock from a local business closing recently.  300 sheets A LOT and some have company name on them and some do not.  Sorry I can't always give credit to the rightful owner on some paper.

Paper Used: BG-discounted paper with no name, Olive-SU (I think it's actual name is Washbi), Brown-Scrap (I think it was from the Chocolate Lovers Pack), Off White-SU, Graphite-scrap, Wood Sheet from SU

Stamp Used: SU-For Father

Die Cuts: MFT-Tool Charms

I did ink up the edges of cardstock with Basic Brown ink from Stampin' Up.  Roughed up the brown paper edges a bit.  As you can see, I cut out some of the tools twice.  Once with the wood sheets and once for the graphite paper, that way the hammer and saw kinda looked real.  I just roughly colored pencil the image.  This will be my card for Sol.

Thanks for looking !!  Time for the next challenge !!

MFT81 Challenge

Getting Sketchy again this week with MFT Stamps. I decided to use the MFT Miss You Much Jolinne stamp for my image and picked out my paper from there.  Well, the way I was leaning just fell flat until I remembered this Destinations paper by Tim Holtz I had in my craft closet, then I knew exactly what I needed to do.  So, here's the sketch:

I used Recollections Printer Cork paper for the background (I was so happy it was sticky on the backside).  The rest of the background paper is the Tim Holtz's Destinations paper.  Even the paper for the luggage is the from Tim Holtz.  I stamped on the leather looking paper for the luggage then embossed it with Ebony Embossing Powder.  I really wanted it to stand out on the dark paper.  Then carefully I cut the image out.  Then I stamped the cute little girl and decided to emboss her too.  Of course she had to be carefully cut out too.  I wanted the hardware of the luggage to look like metal, so a little bling with yellow Stickles did just the job.  Here is it, my take on the sketch:

I added a little bit of ribbon with a brad by BoBunny.  Added the sentiment on die cut clouds from MFT Cloud Trio.  Decided to finish it up with some paper piercing, because it needed something else, holes.

Well, hopefully you have been inspired.  Thanks for looking !  :o)

Teapot Challenge

This card was created for MFT80 challenge, but then I saw this Teapot challenge for giraffes.  So, I entered my card and let me say, this group of women are spunky.  LOVE IT!!! They made me feel welcomed in this group.  The cards that are made for the challenges go to someone special, which made me feel real good that it wouldn't be sitting around collecting dust.  So, what did I use to make this card:

Paper:  The giraffe background - PaperHouse, Burlap - Home Basics, the rest was scraps
Stamp: MFT Giraffe Girl (which I really like Pure Innocence stamps)
Embellishments:  Brad and eyelets - Recollections
Die Cuts: MFT Simply Scallops, MFT Sentiment Strips

Hopefully, I'll start using the overflowing supplies I have growing in the craft closet and I still can't get enough of.

Starting a Blog

I already do a family website, now I thought I would try a blog for my crafty side. I've been on Splitcoasters website, trying to get my feet wet with card challenges. Then I realized that many challenges, you need a blog to write about all the cool products you use. I was overwhelmed by Splitcoasters ways, but I'm slowly learning the ropes. I mean slowly !! I guess I'll start posting my challenges here and see what happens.
