Imagination

Hello crafty friends!  I'm here today with my last Guest Designing post for We Love 2 Create.  Thank you for the opportunity to create and have fun with the rest of the team.  This challenge is about creating with Mixed Media, so check out the other DT inspirations and beautiful projects.

Since it's the first of the month, later I will have my 3 sister blog posts.  Busy day with lots of inspiration.

This canvas will be going to a little boy who loves space, time, and policemen.  I used the new Little Dudes from Polkadoodles called Astronaut.  Usually I like to buy the whole bundles, but you can buy each little dude separately.   The image is colored with my Prismacolor pencils.  I'm really good at fussy cutting, but the balloon string I thought would really stand out if I left white on each side or made the black line thicker.  So, I cut off the string and use some leather cording, punch a hole where the string was being held in his hand.  It worked.

Here's the canvas after spraying with some inks.  The blue has some iridescent effect to it, which is kinda cool.  I used some stencils with molding paste to create a little texture to the background.  Then sprayed the molding paste after it dried.   I think it looks like a night sky, perfect for our little dude.

All the embellishments were first painted with gesso.  The metal pieces, usually I paint just a little, because I want some of the metal to show through.  The clock piece with gears, is a chipboard piece.  After I painted it with gesso, I sprayed it with the same inks.  Then I used different embossing powders to get the effect I was looking for.  Still wasn't happy, so my rub-n-dub paint came out, to rub on top of some of the embossing, along with some gold and silver paint.

Every kid needs to dream big with imagination, that's why I love this quote.
You can also see the iridescent effect on the canvas.

I found some gems that I thought would look like stars.  **Lesson learned: read the package to make sure you get the right gems.  The black ones were flat backs, the pretty colored ones, were cones shaped backs.  I had to mix some molding paste and lots of ink to match the color of the canvas, this way the cone had something to sit into.**

Here are some of the products that I used in this project.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

I would like to enter my canvas in the following challenges:
