The Male Room Vintage Challenge

It's time for another challenge at The Male Room.  For the next two weeks, we want to see vintage creations that are masculine.

My brother's girlfriend needed a card for a friend who is a farmer.  I found this beautiful image at Just Ink Lined called tractor.  I'm never sure what is considered vintage, all I know is..... this tractor is old. Old=Vintage  That's my thought process and I'm sticking to it!! :oD

The image was colored by my water color and regular colorpencils.  After coloring, I sponged the sky with some ink. It couldn't be a farmer's card without some burlap.  There is actually a black satin ribbon on the bottom of the image, the black cardstock is just on the sides and top of the image.  Thought it would give it more texture with a soft ribbon against the rough burlap.

The inside somewhat matching the outside, with a simple happy birthday sentiment stamped.

Hope to see your vintage creations at The Male Room!

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog-#26 Buttons and Bows

Good Monday to everyone!!  Yes, I know it's Monday, but try to be postive here!  It's another wonderful challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  For the next 2 weeks, we want to see buttons and bows on your projects and as always, there must be stamped/digi image or sentiment on your creation.

We have two wonderful sponsors for this challenge.

Stitchy Bears Digi Outlet winner will receive $10 gift certificate.

Fresh Squeezed Stamps winner will receive the Friendly Folk Stamp set.

This challenge I found difficult, not the buttons and bows part, but the using what was already stamped for me to create something.  I created a card using Fresh Squeezed stamp set Trendy Triangles.  (We just found out the store is closing and this stamp set is gone).

I decided to color the triangles to match the dp I used, then fussy cut them out.  This triangle theme just emerged.  The birthday sentiment is attached to a cardstock covered mini chipboard pennant.  I decided the pennant was perfect for the buttons and bows.

Here's the inside.  The sentiment is from MFT Birthday Sentiments set.

Hope to see your creation in our challenge!

Birthday Invitation

We are celebrating another birthday in this crazy house.  Ethan turned 9 yesterday....where does the time go.  We made little invitations to invite some neighborhood kids over for pizza and cupcakes.  Ethan picked out the stamp he wanted, which was a hard choice.

He finally decided on this Unity - Balloons to You little image for the front.  It's perfect since today is Friends with Flair at Unity.  I actually won this stamp from my blog friend Ms Julie at Muddy Paws Inky Fingers.  I believe it was from her blog anniversary blog hop last year, which is going on right now...how perfect. Check it out!

Ethan wanted each balloon colored a different color.  It was a simple and easy image to coloring.  SO happy he went with this image!!!  I die-cut two off white tags, one for the front and one for the back.  That way I could use a bigger tag for the center to add some color.  Tie some ribbon and twine, you got yourself an invitation.

Here's the back.  I used Stampin' Up Stamp Please Come.

The Male Room - Color Challenge

Hello and welcome to another challenge at The Male Room.  For the next two weeks, we are having a color challenge.  We want to see manly projects with blue, green and brown.

I created a birthday card for the young man across the street.  Which my younger boys went to his birthday party.  Ethan picked out the image, because he thought it was cool.

The image is Lacy Sunshine Biker Bob (which is now retired). They have adorable images, so check out their shop.  I colored this cool dude with my water and regular colorpencils.  He has blonde hair, because the neighbor boy has blonde hair.  The happy birthday sentiment is from Unity - party all day.  Thought the tag shape would be fun and added some twine.

The inside matches the outside. Just had Ethan write happy birthday to his friend.

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog #25 - Back It Up!

Good Monday!!  It's time for another challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  For the next two weeks, we want to see you create a project using NO PATTERN paper.  Instead, create your own background paper.

Our sponsors for this challenge :

Bugaboo Stamps will give the winner 7 images of their choice.

Eureka Stamps will give the winner 5 images of their choice.  How awesome of these sponsors!!!

I decided to work with the image Celebrating Kitty from Eureka Stamps.  Who doesn't love a cat that can party?  Anyway, I thought it would be a fun and cute image to work with.  The image is colored with water and regular colorpencils.  I tried to make the fur kinda look like fur, I think I've done better in the past.  For my handmade background, I used Stampin'Up Family Accessories stamps.  They had a birthday party hat and a little gift, that I stamped randomly on the white cardstock.

I also made this paper using alcohol inks and glossy photo paper. Which is used behind the image and sentiment. Threw some ribbon on it for color.  Simple and easy!  Will probably give this card to a kid.

Hope to see you in the Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog challenge!

Sweet Pea Stamps DT Call

Sweet Pea Stamps is having a DT call.  To entry you must create a project that best fits your style.  You don't have to use a Sweet Pea Stamp, but it would be nice.  Sweet Pea Stamps has beautiful images made by talented artists, there's something for everyone.

Here's what I created for the DT call:

The image is Sweet Pea Stamps - Conie Fong's Little Blossom 2.  I thought she was just adorable. The image was colored with my water and regular colorpencils.  I decided to paint the metal corner pieces.  At first I thought white, but decided on pink.

The character background was created by using Unity's Japanese background stamp.  A little bit of lace was added at the bottom.

I couldn't decide on a sentiment.  Tim Holtz has some neat sentiments in his word bands, that could have gone with the image.  This is the choosen one.  It's hard to read them, so, I painted it white and wiped of the excess paint from the top.  This left paint in the words, much easier to read.  Tied the sentiment with twine.

Here's the inside, which I kept simple.  Goodluck to all that are entering!!

The Male Room Challenge - Retirement

Hi there!  It's time for another challenge at The Male Room.  For the next two weeks we want to see "Retirement" projects for men.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think about men and retirement...golf.  I got this cute little stamp set at Unity - Fore!!!.  I actually won it in a grab bag (they give their winners a grab bag of rubber stamps...fantastic) and this is the first time being used.  My dad and brother play golf, so I can see this card going to one of them in the future.

I really try not to overdo men cards.  Just keep it simple if possible.  I did a little bit of coloring, but the golf cart had to stay white.  Couldn't bring myself to color it a different color, but I did color a racing stripe.
I put some twine on the side of the card and a couple of brads on the "par-tee" sentiment.  Everyone wants to party when they retired.  (Better retire young then :o))

Here's the inside.  Yes, I have a little OCD.
Hope to see you at The Male Room !!

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog #24 - Anything Goes

Hello again!  It's time for another challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  For the next 2 weeks we have an Anything Goes challenge.  Remember, we like to see a stamp or digital image or sentiment on your creation.

We have 2 wonderful sponsors for this challenge, that means 2 wonderful winners.

Scribbles Designs will award the winner with 3 images of choice.

Lacy Sunshine Stamps will award the winner with 3 images of choice.

So, I got to work with the image Woolleys from Scribbles Designs.  Those woolleys are stinkin' cute.   I decided to put my image behind the blue and dark blue cardstock.  Then added some die-cut grass to go in front of the image.  I wanted a sentiment, but really didn't know what to use.  Yup, that's the one I decided was a good choice...."that stinks".  Just one of those days were everything just piles up..lol.

Maybe, they are giving their short friend a better view of the greener grass...haha.

The inside had to match the outside.

A Friend with Chocolate

I'm a day late on this posting, but I figured February is the month for love.  One of my older boys wanted to give a gal pal something for Valentine's. So what's better than a chocolate bar?  A chocolate bar wrapped up special.

I went the image from MFT - I'm Raptor Round Your Finger.  I bought it a couple of years ago and haven't used it....until now.  I have a lot of stamps that I have gotten, just waiting for that perfect project. The sentiment is from Unity - Chocolate & Friendship stamp set, it was perfect.  In fact, my son laughed and said it was perfect.

The first thing that came into mind for making it fancy was having some lace around the edges.  I bought the lace in 2001 for a wedding project, but didn't use it.

I colored the image with water colorpencils and colorpencils.  He's just adorable!

Some heart die-cuts and fancy flourish die-cuts were needed.  Of course a little bling too.  I think she'll like it.  My son said "It's fine", I guess that means he liked it in boy talk :oD
Have a great weekend!!

Hang in There

I'm sharing a card I made for my brother.  Those of you that follow my crafty blog know he is going through cancer treatment.  As with any treatment, it has it's ups and downs.  He is getting closer to the finish line, but it's still a daily struggle.  I'm sending this card to him just to let him know, I'm thinking of him.

For some reason this image seem to suit.  Just looking for something happy and postive.  We climbed a few dozen or more trees in our lifetime.  A friend down the street had a treehouse with a rope to climb.

I kept it very simple and the color choices are from the current MFT Color Palette Challenge, which I thought were cheerful colors.  The image is MFT Tree Swing and the little dog watching is too cute.  I fussy cut the overalls, tree leaves and the dog, to bring some depth to the card.  Of course I used my water colorpencils and regular colorpencils.  I even made sure to put shading on the overalls.

MFT is one of my favorite companies.  I used to play in the sketch challenge, but life has gotten in the way lately.

Here's the inside.  I'm sure I'll write some encouraging words and let him know his little sister still loves him...lol.
