Love to Scrap - Rockin' Rubbah!

It's hard to believe it's already June!  I'm still painting the inside of my house, so time for crafting hasn't been happening.  I hope you love our new challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog - #7 Rockin' Rubbah.  I have rubber stamps flowing out of my crafting drawers, so this was no problem for me.

This challenge is being sponsored by Heartfelt Creations and the winner will receive a $25 gift certificate.  Get out your rubber stamps and ink them up!

My mom celebrated her 60th B-day on May 31st and I had to make her a card and it needed to be special.  I didn't want to make just a regular fancy card, so I went to my design binder.  I know many crafters have a binder or two filled with templates and ideas they want to try.  So, I went through and found the triple tier slider card, it looks like a birthday cake when it is opened, it was perfect and something new for me.

This card has 3 layers (I bet you can add more).  It took me several days to do this card, but I also have two young kids, so sitting down for a long period time doesn't happen.  Each layer is a tri fold card, which is smaller than the previous layer.  That way you can slide the top layers inside the next layer and conceal them.  Kinda like a wallet.
Here's the 3 layers before putting it together.

bottom layer

I used the very cute image from MFT - Cupcake Cutie stamp set.  Added some stickles and die-cut flourish.
The image was colored with watercolor and regular color pencils.

middle layer

The happy birthday is from the same stamp set, with the addition of the die-cut 60. The slide guidelines are in the bottom and middle layers.  I used scrap pieces for the sliders.  I lined the front of the card of each layer where I needed it to be when pulled open and when closed to mark my guidelines and where to stick the slider. Then I cut the my lines for the sliders from the bottom to the top lines I marked. The guidelines are about 1 1/2 to 2 inches apart, depending on the layer.

top layer

Using the balloon stamp from the stamp set, I stamped it several times on the dp and fussy cut them out.  I put some floss behind each balloon for strings.  Die-Cut two tab pullers for the top and added some stickles.  This way the tab pull is on both sides of the card.

Here's the card all put together.

With the second tier pulled out.

 All three tiers pulled out.

I found a very helpful tutorial for this card when searching the web, just in case all the pics and causal info didn't help.
Stamp with Heather  She did a birthday card that is cute.

I notice I couldn't really leave a special message for my mom on this type of card, so a created a pocket on the back.  This way I could slide a message tag in the pocket.  It worked out perfectly.  This card does end up being very thick with all the cardstock being triple layer inside another triple layer and added layers for each front.

Hope to see many of you linking up to the challenge!
