Bird's Nest

Hello fellow crafters!  I don't know about you, but I have a pile of images that need to be colored.  I print them off or stamp them and sometimes they sit.  I'm finally coloring some of them.  This post is just about one of those images I printed off last year.

This image is from A Day For Daisies called Bird's Nest.  I fell in love with the image, but wasn't sure how to color it at first, so it sat.  I needed to wait until the right time to color it and I'm glad I did.  If you have been following my journey, you know I have been taking online coloring classes from Kit and Clowder.  The classes have given me the confidence in my coloring skills to finally tackle some of these images.  This image is colored with my color pencils.  Just a few embellishments were needed.

Here's in the inside.

Dr Digi - Middle Age Stud

Hello fellow crafters!  Today is Dr Digi day.  I'm showing my latest creation using Dr Digi's image Gluteus Maximus and he is a handsome dude.

This Roman guard takes his job seriously.  I decided to create a background by drawing a stonewall and dirt/pebble walkway.  Making him look like he his standing guard at the emperor's palace.  After I had him colored up, it took me forever to decide what to do with him.  I really wanted the image to stand on it's own.  Finally, I found this beautifully handmade crinkled paper and added a few antique squared brads.

The image and background was colored with my colored pencils.  Such a handsome stud :o) It did take awhile to color up, but it had to be done right to make the image stand out.

Inside the card I used a Dr Digi Funny Sentiment Sheet 2 for the sentiment.  I thought the pun was perfect and added the Happy Birthday Stud.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

Scrapping4fun #58

Hello fellow crafters :o)

I'm here with another challenge post for Scrapping4fun.  For the next 2 weeks it's Anything Goes!

This Z fold card was made for someone's mother who loves to quilt.  The image is from Unity called By a Thread.  I found some cute little spools and added floss around it.

The image was colored by my color pencils.

The sentiment was written by the person requesting the card.  I decided to try my hand at paper quilting.  I used some scrap paper and die-cut some squares.  Cut the squares in half and created a design with faux stitching.

The lady was in tears when she was handed the card and said it was the best birthday card she'll ever give to her mother....yes, there were no dry eyes.  Times like this makes card making worth it :o)

thanks for looking and reading :o)

Hope to see you in the challenge.

stamps used: Unity-By a Thread
paper used: Recollections, Bazzill, the Paper Studio paisley blue toral, Recollections teal paisley, SU MR Designs.

Ready For Some Football

Hello crafty friends!!  I'm posting a requested card today.  This was for a lady's grandson.  There are 2 cards here, because when I first made the card, there was no specified football team.  I thought I was being smart be going with a local football team, but I found out they are originally from Ohio and it had to be Ohio State colors.   This is why I need to ask the questions and not get it from a 3rd party...lol.

Anywho, here are my football cards.

The image is from Just Ink Lined called Football Helmet.  It's a simple design and a great guy card :o)

Here's the inside.  I used a "Big" sentiment stamp set from MFT (My Favorite Things).

Here's my 2nd go at this image with Ohio State colors.  I looked up the helmets to this team, there must have been 15 different designs.  I just picked one I liked and went with it.

The grandmother picked the sentiment she wanted inside.  She's the grandmother and she can.

I did a coordinating envelope with the card.

Isn't this little dragon cute as can be?  My boys love dragons, dinos, wizards, you know, boys stuff. I had to color up this image Dragon's Egg .  The leather background paper, I've had stashed for years and thought it was a good match for this image.  The orange and little bit a green paper I made from photo paper and pinata ink.

The image is colored with my color pencils.  No photoshop adjustments needed, it's that vibrant.  It did need lots of blending to add all the colors I wanted.

They requested this image from Unity called Sadie Girl.  I colored the image with my color pencils.  I try to keep the design simple and just let the image shine.  Since the image is 5" tall, this card is 6 x 6.  I love the Angie girls line from Unity.

Here is the inside of the card.  The sentiment was written by the requester.

Scrapping4fun - #57

Hello crafty friends and Happy New Year!

I hope you are ready to start a new year of fun challenges at Scrapping4fun.  For the next 2 weeks, it's Anything Goes :o)

We are sponsored by wonderful artist Ike at Ike's Art.

I created a canvas wall art with sponsor image called Krayzee Katz.  I colored the image with my color pencils.  Then I painted the canvas to match what I colored.  For the first time, I used a stencil with molding paste that you add some color paint for the color you want.  I'm learning something new all the time.  The decoupage took some of the brightness of the image away when I added a second coat. A little lesson learned.  The metal corner pieces I painted to bring in more of the yellow/orange faces.  A little charm that says family was added with some twine.  The canvas is hanging on my wall and there it stays.

thank for looking and reading :o)

Hope to see you in the challenge.

I would like to enter my canvas in the following challenges:

stamp used: Ike's-Krayzee Kats
embellishments: Tim Holtz-metal corners & Bubble stencil, twine, Charmalong charm
