Elves Make Christmas Happen

I haven't shared my last design from my Christmas card collection.  It's all about the elves during Christmas and don't we parents know that !!

This image is from Stampin' Up Holiday Lineup set, which is just cute.  They also have the lineup of snowmen and reindeer.  Just some die-cutting and lots of coloring made this card come to life.  I also had some red suede for the front of the card, but not enough for the inside, at least not for all 10 cards (I bought it a while back).

I found these cute sentiments from All That Scraps.  Thought they were perfect.  Pretty simple card, except ALL that coloring !!

I'm going to enter this card in the Anything Goes Challenge - Traditional Colours, because let's face it, this card doesn't get more traditional than this.

thanks for looking and reading ;o)

Friends with Flair Friday - Cool Penguin

All fifty Christmas cards are done and in the mail! Whoohoo!!  5 different designs, 10 of each design.  Here's my collection.

I look forward to Friday's to see everyone's hard work and inspiration pieces from using Unity.  It's a fun Friday - Unity Friends with Flair!  Today I'm sharing a card I made for my son's Spanish teacher.  Her favorite color is yellow, but I thought bright yellow was not the ticket for this card, so I used my parental vote and made it Goldenrod color.  Thought is was more appropriate Christmas color.  Here it is:

Using the Unity Stamp of the Week, Penguin Coolness, because his teacher is SO cool.  I embossed the image and fussy cut it out and cutoff the hanging snowflake.  I decided to cut out the snowflake twice so I could double side it and hang it from a goldenrod piece of floss.  That way the snowflake spins.  Die-cut some snowflakes and put some brads from the Spare Parts collections in the middle of them.

Friends with Flair - Blue Tag, Snowflakes

It's Friday !!  Friends with Flair at Unity Stamp Company!!  I won last week, it was a happy surprise Monday night when I saw my card as the winner.  If you have any Unity stamps and have created a project with them, Unity wants to see it.  It's always great to see what other crafters have made with Unity Stamps and get ideas for the stamps you do have and want.

This week I made a real simple card because I needed to get done with the my Christmas cards.  Every year I make 5 different designs and 10 of each design. That way family members can talk about the different cards they received.  I'm crazy, I know.  I use the deep navy as my main card, a medium blue for the tag and white embossing powder for the tree stamp.  Added ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and Ribbon Carousel (they have the same curly ribbon, luckily I had some from both companies, because I needed it all).  Then die-cut some snowflakes. Easy and fast to make 10 of them.

Once again I can enter into more than one challenge.  YAY !!

Friends with Flair Friday - Pain and Pride

After much needed time with the family for Thanksgiving, it's time to get back on schedule with card making. Sometimes Thanksgiving is the only time I see my family due to we live so far away from each other.  I spend every moment I can when we are together.

This week I've been trying to finish up my Christmas cards.  Uugghh!!  Christmas came too fast!  I have 30 cards done, 20 more to go.  Today I'm sharing my Christmas card with the Unity Pain and Pride stamp set.  This guy is SO cute.  I think I'll stamp one or two of the sentiments that comes with the set inside.

Couple layers of paper. Colored the image with my handy dandy water color pencils and color pencils.  Put some puffy paint in certain areas and added glitter on top of paint.  Cut out the image.  Threw a ribbon around with a bow and a couple curly ribbons behind the bow (because I like them) and we have a card.

I think I'm going to enter this little guy in a couple of challenges.  I know, I know.  Me a couple of challenges, I just don't see how some card makers enter one card in 15 challenges (they are good).
First, the reason I made this card for Unity Friends with Flair.

Tuesday Teapotters - A Beary Tea Party

Another Tuesday another teapot party.  This week we are going to FL for MaryLou who has been battling numerous medical conditions and it has made everyday life difficult for her.  MaryLou loves bears and the colors blue and purple.  I didn't have a bear dressed in fancy teaparty clothes, all my bears like to be bare..hahaha.  Here the inspiration teapot:

Here's MaryLou's card:

I used the soon to be retired line from MFT stamp line, Fred Bear and the Pinwheel stamp.  Fred was first colored with watercolor pencils.  Since I didn't want smooth fur, I used regular colored pencils to make the fur a little shaggy.  The pinwheel is also from MFT die-namics.  I hope this card will bring a smile on MaryLou's face.

After I was done with my card and happy with it, I let the husband give his approval, like all my projects.  He informed me that I should have used a cinnamon stick for the pinwheel handle.  You know what, he was right, but too late now.

I'll  also be entering this card in the Chocolate, Coffee & Card Challenge, because they are looking for stripes.  I do believe I have some stripes going on in this card.

stamps used: Fred Bear & the Pinwheel

paper: MFT paper sampler, Coredinations Chocolate Lovers, Colorbok Antique Paperie

die-cuts: MFT Pinwheel

embellishments: Really Reasonable Ribbon, Recollections mini brads

inks: VersaFine onyx black, black embossing

Friends with Flair - give thanks

Unity Stamp Company has Friends with Flair every Friday.  I have entered a few times when I can and the husband and kids don't have me running all day. If you look through my blog you will see Unity Stamps are some of my favorite stamps to use. I wanted to make a Thanksgiving card with the new stamp set Country Pumpkin Chowder, (the stamp name can make you giggle).  I will also be entering the Ribbon Carousel Fall Spirit Challenge, since I used their ribbons for this card.

I stamped each tree in different colors, for the fall. With the turkey I stamped him on kraft paper then cut off his tail. OH THE HUMANITY!!  But I wanted to used the pretty fall color ribbon I received from Ribbon Carousel monthly ribbon club kit.  Off with the tail and on with a ribbon tail. I used the netted ribbon on the bottom of the card, this ribbon gives a neat effect.  Easy card to do and fun.  The  card stock was all scraps from past projects, WHOOHOO !

The inside of the card I decided to let the turkey peek through some more ribbon. ( I wish the ribbon laid down smoother).

Tuesday Teapotters - Duck, Deer and Outdoors

This week the Teapotters are heading to Canada to bring some cheer to a gentleman who had an all-day emergency surgery. We are to bring masculine cards, outdoorsy and/or wild animals.  Extra cookies if we bring a joke.  Here's the inspiration teapot:

So I didn't make a duck card.   I decided to go with a country feel card.  Bob and his wife Carolyn have been living in the city since the surgery and are missing their country home.  I thought they might need some country scenery.  I was going to color in the image, but after I stamped it, I couldn't bring myself to color it.  I thought it was perfect without coloring.
I did add a metal caption, just to give thought of sitting on the porch swing in this wonderful Fall weather.

MFT 96 Getting Sketchy

Trying another MFT Wednesday Sketch.  This time instead of using an image, I decided to try a sentiment.  So risqué of me!  Here's the sketch:

Here's my take on it.

I think the banner idea is cute. Great for birthdays or celebrating one's fun life. I used MFT heavy cardstock (the two lighter purple colors, the dark purple is bazzill). I got a sampler pack and have really liked the quality of the heavy cardstock and the many different colors. I just need to order the colors I would use most often now, because one of each is just not enough. The DP is from TCP Studio and one side are the squares, the other side are the dots.  I wrapped some cotton thread on the bottom half and used denim baker's twine for the banner.

Baby Girl

It's been a few since my last post, that thing called life gets in the way sometimes.  In fact, I have done a couple a projects and forgot to take pictures in the big rush of getting them there on time.  I know shame on me.  Today I'm sharing a baby card.  Even though we have four boys some of our friends are lucky enough to have a sweet baby girl.

The image is Pink Cat Studio Sweet Pea Stamps which I colored with watercolor pencils and color pencils.  I thought this little one was just sweet.

I used Stickles on the wings and wand for a little added sparkle.  I wanted the flower to look like it was in a garden or field by adding the die-cut grass.  Of course a pink ribbon was needed to make it complete.

Unity WCMD - The Last Three

Finally getting to post the last of the Unity World Card Making Day Challenge. Nothing like finishing right before the deadline.  Actually we ran errands all day yesterday and today we went to the Apple Harvest Festival and ate yummy fresh made apple cider donuts and drank some apple cider.  I'm just happy I finished all eight challenges plus the sketch of the month, which makes nine.  whoohoo!!!  Let's get to posting these last three cards.

Challenge #6 Stamp A Border using a non-border stamp

I used Unity Just Chillin' stamp for this card.  Punched snowflakes and used buttons as my border, then added a curly ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon on the bottom edge of the border.  Stickles on the snowmen, blue Stickles under them and glitter on a couple of hats.  The embossing plate with snowflakes came from Stampin' Up.  Colored then snowman with watercolor pencils and color pencils.

Challenge #7 Coloring - image has to be colored

Okay this challenge was not hard due to I tend to color majority of my images.

I colored in Unity's You Are My Main Squeeze stamp for this challenge using colored pencils.

Challenge #8 Color Challenge - Cream, Brown, Olive, & Pumpkin

updated pic

I used Unity's Thanks, Thanks & Thanks for this challenge.  Since it was night time for this card photo, it's not a good photo.  I'll have to take it again in the morning and repost, but the challenge ends tonight at 11:59 so I have to post the best pic for now.

Tuesday Teapotters - Going Batty

This week the Teapotters are going to Lexington, KY for some cheering up.  Angelique had a doctor oopsie her surgery causing more surgeries, I would not be happy either.  Because Angelique loves bats our cheerful cards are going Halloween batty.  Here's the inspiration teapot:

It's Halloween but beautiful.

I just realized, I haven't put on the Stickles on parts of the ghost.  Ugghh.  Anywho, I decided to use this cute ghost image by Amy Young called Sweet November Boo's Fun from All That Scraps.  They have a digital or rubber stamp version of these cute little guys.  Shiny bats on the background and lots of ribbon.  I was just tickles when I saw this purple ribbon that was double sided with the black, makes for a cool affect.  Just a couple a brads near the bottom of the ghost.  Call this card done!

I usually don't like entering my teapot cards into challenges, because they are going to someone special, but Really Reasonable Ribbon is having a Halloween card challenge and I guess it won't hurt.  So I will be entering in their challenge.

Unity WCMD - Couple More Challenges

Still working on the eight challenges from Unity World Card Making Day.  Almost finished with all of them.  Hopefully I can finish before this Saturday the 20th. Three more to go after this post. WHOOHOO!!  Might need to grab a beverage for this long post, well, it has some pics to it anyway.

Challenge 2 - Texture (at least 2 different textures)
I embossed part of a clock face, Unity KOM Feb 2012, on the background with black embossing powder. I thought about using clear for the same effect, but I tried the black and came out probably with a better effect.  The sentiment was from Unity Day & Night stamp set.  Textures: smooth embossing, fabric, metal, satin ribbon, and cardstock.

Challenge 3 - Embossing Challenge
I thought the Good Day Sunshine stamp set would look good embossed, since it reminds me of a sunset pictured. I even embossed the sentiment.

Challenge 4 - Card Sketch
I made a sympathy card, not sure if I totally like this. My husband said it looked like an old card, uuhmm.  If I have time, I might have to try this sketch again.

Challenge 5 - Fall Theme
Fall is my favorite time of the year. Love the colors and the smell of cinnamon and I was married in the fall. I made this card for my husband with Nuts but I Love Ya stamp set. Thought it was perfect.

Thanks for looking and reading since it was too long :o)

All projects have to be made with Unity stamps.

Unity WCMD - Shape Card

Unity Stamp Company held 8 challenges for World Card Making Day this past Saturday.  I'm going to try to make all eight.  Starting with challenge 1 a shape card.  No easy circle, square or rectangle could be used.  I decided to use Susan Weckesser Unity stamp The Happy Homestead since it's 2" x 5.5" stamp.  HUGE stamp and perfect for a shape card.  We have some new neighbors and a welcome to the neighborhood card is perfect.

I used watercolor pencils and color pencils to color in my image.  Sponged around the edges and added a cloud with jute behind the cloud.  The HOME sentiment came from the What Matters Most Unity stamp set.

I'll hand write Welcome to the Neighborhood or Congratulations on your new home on the inside.

Tuesday Teapotters - Going Pink

The Teapotters are going to Ohio this week.  Jennifer is battling a rare and aggressive type of breast cancer that she needs radiation 7 days a week until November.  I decided to use the Unity stamp Fight Like A Girl for Jennifer's card.  She seems to be in good spirits when you read her blog and still making cards.  Here's the teapot inspiration:

too cute

Here's Jennifer's card.  A spunky gal willing to fight.  I thought she might need some gloves to go with her socks.  A little flower ribbon to make it girlie and some pink Stinkles for the bling.

Prayers and wishes to Jennifer and her family  :o)

Sunny Birthday

I made a birthday card for my brother's better half.  I don't know how she puts up with him, but she deserves a cute birthday card.  I thought I might as well enter a couple of challenges, besides they give me inspiration for my work.  The first challenge I came across was the Chocolate, Coffee and Card Challenges blog for the color combination.  Then the MFT Wednesday sketch for the layout, but when I put my card together, I didn't have my iPad in front of me (some little ones were playing on it) and didn't quite put it together like the sketch.  Oh WELL!  I still like the way it turned out.

Here's what I came up with this combination of fun:

I used MFT ALM Time to Celebrate stamp set and MFT PI Birthday Girl for the Happy Birthday sentiment on the front of the card.  All the ribbon is from Ribbon Carousel in their Ribbon of the Month Kits.  I colored in the image with watercolor pencils and regular pencils.  Put on a pearl embellishment, DONE!  Of course the inside needs to look as good as the outside.

Thanks for looking and reading :o)

die cuts: MFT Dienamics Circle Stax 1 and Stax 2, MFT Sentiment Strips

embellishments: Ribbon from Ribbon Carousel Ribbon of the Month Kits, Prima Marketing Say it in Pearls
