Hello fellow crafters! It's a new month already...it's hard to believe how fast this year is flying by.
A new month means a new challenge at
Love to Craft! Challenge Blog. Anything that you create, we want to see.
This month past month I have been busy working on this Fall Festival game. Yup, that's right, I want you to pick my nose. I did a Google search on some fun games and I saw a funny face where they had kids pick the nose, but goo would come out of it. It was like snot coming out of the nose. I didn't want the candy and toys to be all gooey and the kids would need something to clean their hands off. We were not allowed to have anything scary at the festival, so I decided a scarecrow would be fun and to stuff the nose with straw.
Here's how I made it. I used a gate fold project board. The type kids use to make school projects.
I laid out the face and played around with the colors on the first layer. The white part was left, so I knew where to cut the hole for stuffing.
The opening was cut out easily with an exacto-knife. Some chicken wire was measured and shaped for the nose.
The first 2 layers of the nose, I used regular newspaper to paper mache. I was worried about the chicken wire poking through if some aggressive little hands got to picking the nose really hard. I had some brown packing paper from a shipment. Tore it into strips and paper mached 2 more layers of the nose with the brown paper. It was really thick paper and I made sure the edges where getting extra when wrapping around. Because I use the heavy paper, it took an extra day to dry. Maybe if I put it out in the sun, it could have dried faster.
For the inside of the nose, I used some packing I got from a huge gift basket. It was soft and hairy looking and it gave the straw something to grip to.
To give the scarecrow a realistic look and to make sure the kids couldn't pulled the hot glued nose off, I gave it some stitching. I used a drill to drill the holes and a make-shift needle from some heavy wire. The stitching was some heavy twine I had from another project.
A little straw showing from the nose, made it all better.
Here they are digging for the gold ;oP
The kids loved this game and kept coming back to it.
thanks for looking and reading :o)
I would like to enter my game in the following challenges:
