Love to Craft Challenge Blog #46: Mixed Media Bird Tag

Hello crafty friends!   This is my post for Love to Craft Challenge Blog,  every month is Anything Goes.   We want to see what you have been crafting.

The image Birds Hair from artist Julia Spiri was color with my Prismacolor pencils.  I decided to make a mixed media tag.  Paint, scrap paper, tissue, sewing maching stitching, ink, gold & purple paint, cheese cloth:  just for the background.  After the sewing the stitches, I couldn't stand looking at the back of the tag, so I fixed it .

I did the same technique with a new tag to place over the back of the front tag, but without the stitching.  This little wooden bird has been sitting in my craft closet for awhile, some gesso paint, ink and gold paint to tie it into the project.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

I would like to enter this tag in the following challenges:

stamps: Julia Spiri: Birds Hair
paper: scraps
embellishments: paints, inks, embossing powder, cheesecloth, wooden bird,  the Paper Studios: flowers

Hi fellow crafters!  I promise this is the last post for today :o)  This is the first of the month and that means another wonderful monthly challenge will be starting at House of Cards today.

Here's the inspiration pic for the challenge.  Use twine and/or colors for this challenge.  (Some people would call this floss, but whatever you have twine/floss you can use it.)

For this challenge, I decided to use Julia Spiri's image, The Secrets of Venice.  It's a beautiful image that I colored with my Prismacolor pencils.  I try to match the colors as close as possible to the inspiration pic.  I did use twine/floss just to make sure.

Here's the inside.   This sentiment is from Unity Stamp, I don't know if they sell it individually anymore or just in a set now.

Strawberries are my favorite and a yummy strawberry cake sounds good right now.  This image also reminds me of Strawberry Shortcake.  I had a collection of Strawberry Shortcake items growing up.

House of Cards Shape Challenge

Hello again fellow crafters!  This is my second post for today, which is unusual for me to post twice in a day.  That just means more goodies for you to see.

This post is for the new monthly challenge at House of Cards.  This month's challenge is all about shapes, no plain square or rectangles for this challenge.

My shape card is actually a mini album die-cut with lots of curves.  I used a vintage style image from Julia Spiri called Vintage Hair.  I couldn't resist a big bow with a clock hanging, just like the one in her hair.

I tried my hand with a monochromatic color scheme.  Using just my French Grey color pencils to color the image, this was a great challenge and I love the look.  It's just adds to the vintage feel of the image.

Here's the inside.
