MIUCB #78: Mixed Media Garden

 Hello Crafty Friends!

This post is for MIUCB, Mixed Media or anything crafty goes.  I love doing mixed media crafts, just because it's fun getting messy and just letting the mind be creative.

This is the finish project.

I started with painting the canvas with some different types of paints and then fixing tissue paper over the top.

The butterfly was a wooden embellishment that had been embossed and heavy glitter stones.  The flowers are metal, just make sure put a base coat of gesso paint down, then drop some ink to fill them.
Part of the thinking process ....
The finally project once again.

stencils: Artplorations: Bloom Silhouttes, Tim Holtz: bubble

MIUCB #77: Birthday Piecing Tag

Hello Crafty Friends :o)  Welcome to another great challenge over at MIUCB, our new challenge is Paper Piecing or Anything Goes.

I decided to make a birthday tag, where the cake was stamped several times, then piece together,  This also gives a great layer look.

This is how many layers I decided was best to get the right layers.

On the backside.

thanks for looking and reading.

MUICB #76: Bag of Flowers

Hello Crafty Friends!  I just realized I never posted my project for MIUCB, real life complications.

The new challenge is for Layers.

I did a gift bag using tissue paper from Tim Holtz and decided it had to have color.  Very carefully I colored it with my prismacolor pencils.  Who doesn't have scrap paper hanging around that needs to be used and maybe pieces of embellishment scraps.

Using decoupage on the burlap to adhere the tissue paper is the best route, I thought brushing it on the tissue would either tear it or make the colors bleed.

• paper: Tim Holtz: collage paper serendipity, scraps
• embellishments: Tim Holtz: number strips, Ashland: moss, Bead Landing: gems, gauze, staples, burlap, butterfly

Here is my post for MIUCB : Anything Goes with the option to play in the challenge of Monochrome.

Mix It Up Challenge Blog #72: Smooshing

Hello crafty friends :o)  Welcome to another fun challenge at MIUCB, this month is about smooshing.

Silly me didn't take a pic of how I smooshed. It's a very easy technique.  I have the special mat for distress inks, sprays and paints, everything wipes off very easily.  I stamped with distress ink pads and used some spray ink directly on my mat, wet with some water "smoosh" my paper.  Then you can "smoosh" on some clean paper and get another design.

I made this tag to go in a card slot in my junk journal.  I used some of the papers and stickers from the kit.

thanks for looking and reading.

Mix It Up Challenge Blog #71: Playing With Food

Hello Crafty Friends :o)   Time for another challenge at MIUCB, this challenge we want you to play with your veggies.  Okay, so when I wrote down the challenge in my calendar, I put play with food.  I do eat veggies and love them, but I did this challenge with pasta. Playing with your Veggies is just an option to join the challenge, we will accept all creations.

Here is the pasta design.  I tried two different types, but the penne pasta did much better than the rotini.  Maybe if I used paint instead of inks, I might have had a better outcome with the rotini. Playing some more might be an option for the future.

Wanted to make sure the design was seen, so keep the design simple.
Here is the inside, which I kept very light in order to stamp or write a message over the design.

Mix It Up Challenge Blog #70: Brew-tiful Coffee Friend

Hello crafty friends :o)

This post is for MIUCB, looking for Inlaid Die-Cuts or anything crafty.

Out of the sea of die-cuts, that I know many crafters have, this little cutie was the one.  I have done some of flower ones a few other times, so I wanted something different.  The little TINY face, can be difficult.  So just put the glue down for the whole coffee and face was the easiest way to handle those very tiny pieces.  I just kept everything simple.

Here's the inside.

Mix It Up Challenge Blog #69: Little Note Card

 Hello crafty friends.

This post is for MIUCB, this month we would like to see some folds.

There are some many beautiful multi folded cards, but I went for something for simple and easy.  I used Lori Whitlocks, Tabbed Card svg.  If you are a true crafter, you have more scrap pieces of paper that just needs to be used.  This whole card was made from scraps :o)

I decided to put white on both sides.  That way I can stamp on the side that faces outward and write a personal message on the other side.

thanks for reading and looking :o)

Mix It Up Challenge Blog #68: Secret Flower Garden

Hello and Happy New Year Crafty Friends!!  Wishing you a blessed and crafty 2024.

This post is from Mix It Up Challenge Blog, for this challenge, we would like to see some mixed media creations.

This is my inspiration project of mixed media, which I really love getting messy.  Mixed media can be fun and a good stress reliever.

The image is from Alyce at Kit and Clowder, Enchanted Fairy House Door.  This is a monthly pencil class from September 2023.  Colored by me with prismacolor pencils.

I painted the canvas with some gesso white paint, like a primer to get things started.  Using spray inks to achieve the background colors, which I match to the image's background.  Then I used two different stencil with modeling paste to get some added details, which the paste soaks up the ink and blends in nicely (you see in the finished project).

Going through some Tim Holtz embellishments, I found this address label.  Distressed with some inks and placed it surrounded by the moss.

Just some of the added details and sparkle that is needed.

Botanical Art: MIUCB #65

Hello crafty friends :o)  Welcome to May Flowers time.

This post is for Mix It Up Challenge Blog #65; Anything Goes with the option of embossing.

I went to a Botanical Art workshop at the flower farm.  This was a fun class and I learned a lot about how to make natural dyes for art work.  The instructor uses the dyes not just for paper projects, but also clothing.

Here was the center table setting.

We used alive and dried flowers and leaves for this project.  Which was rolled up with cans and cooked.

This is the end result.  Just some beautiful paper to use in later projects. :o)
Now for the project for this challenge.

Here I played with fresh flower petals, by rubbing them on the paper to create color. Some of the natural dyes and by adding lemon juice, soda or other elements changing the colors.

This is what I created.  The sentiment is embossed.
What a great class, so much learning and I can't wait to experiment on my own.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

stamps: Sugar Peas: Floral Envie

We got to take home flowers from the farm, they are so beautiful.

Hello crafty friends :o)  Another new month, more fabulous new inspirations.  Please check out all the sister blogs.

This post is for MIUCB, Optioal Smooshing/Anything Goes

Sometimes I design things for other projects and decide I don't like them... on that project, so they get put to the side until I can figure out what to do with them.  After distressing a couple of cards, I didn't like them on another project, put made them front and center for this tag.  Stencil, scrap pieces of paper, paint, inks, and objects filled this tag .

A little sentiment for the back.

Making boxes for gifts or goodies to give is fun.  Now with machine and designs, there are so many fun designs to choose from.  This SVG file is from Lori Whitlock called 2 Compartment Cookie Box.  Not sure if I will put cookies inside, but I was thinking some chocolate and other goodies.

Here's the inside.  It was very easy to put together and is very sturdy.  The kraft paper I used was a heavy paper.

Mix It Up! Challenge Box #58: Thanks a Latte

Hello crafty friends :o)

Here with my project for Mix It Up! Challenge Blog, where Fancy Folds are a creative must.

When you find cute stamps and die-cuts/svgs that go together ... just have to make a card.  The coffee cup is a svg file from Lori Whitlock website, part of Doodle bug collections.

The inside of the card has my fancy fold technique for this challenge.  It's also a svg file from Lori Whitlock, I really like the book fold of this.  The stamp from Sugar Pea Designs goes perfectly with the coffee files.
