Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog #31 - Mind Your Banners!!

I can't believe it's June already!!  My second born son will be graduating from High School on Thursday, so the house is getting busy with out-of-town guests.  I love when family comes to visit :o)

Let's get on with the challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog. For the next 2 weeks, we want you to "Mind Your Banners!!".  This should be an easy challenge for everyone, just look at the different DT inspiration.

I got to work with Bugaboo image Bugaboo Brat-Liberty.  She is cute and I knew it would be pretty  easy to create a project with banners.  I also tried another bendy card since they are very easy to do and different.

I try to find some patriotic paper in my stash.  Good thing I had a couple!  The stripe is a discount paper I've been hoarding, as well as the BoBunny and Paper Studio.  I'm still using the 300 pieces of paper I got from a going out of business small shop from years ago, it's a good thing.  The stars are die-cuts with metal between two of them, then stuck on the first fold, hidden by paper over them. 

I printed out the image twice, but reversed one of the images.  I needed it for the backside of the second bend fold.  Each star on the banners are die-cuts.  I know I could get really fancy with this card.  I could even find some embellishments to hide the slits, but I'm not for sure what I will do or if it really needs anything else.  I'll either write a message or find a sentiment for the back part.

The Male Room - Leaves & Trees

It's time for another manly challenge at The Male Room!  For the next two weeks we want to see Leaves & Trees on your projects.

I have both trees and leaves on my card.  I know it could be a fall type card, but hoping with the colors that it doesn't seem like fall card.  I stamped the trees with a light tea distress ink.  After much debate, I decided not to color them.  I colored the acorns with color pencils and fussy cut them out.  Both stamp sets are from Unity Stamp Co.

I just added a little rope around the die-cut leaves.  Plus a little cute sentiment.

The sentiment is also from Unity.

Boy Graduation Card

I have another graduation card for today!  This one is going down to our dear friends in LA.  Our sons went to school together and were in cub scouts together (for the 5 years we lived there), sure do miss those days and our friends.

Kept it simple for the guy.  I colored the image with water and regular color pencils.  Used my new graduation die-cuts.

The image is from La-La Lands, it's a big stamp.  I believe all their stamps are big, because the image is the focus.  Added the sentiment that came with the image with a small cap brad.

Inside I used a sentiment from MFT Happy Graduation stamp set.

Girl Graduation Card

Graduation time is upon us!  Some of our friends kids have already graduated and it seems so early.  My second son will be graduating the first week of June.  It's hard to believe I have 2 grown men and still have 2 more boys to go.  It will be 15 years when my last little one will graduate...wow!

This card is for a dear friend's daughter.  I decided to try a bendy card.  There are many tutorials out there, just pick a couple to study and give it a try :o)

I kept it pretty simple, because I saw some amazing bendy cards out there. Since the daughter went to a private school where uniforms and traditional schooling was done, I thought the card needed to be uniformed.  All the die-cuts are from MFT (My Favorite Things)-Graduation Accents.

Here is the last panel. I thought a dp would break up the solid red and black.  I left the the inside side panels blank to write a message to the graduate.

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog - Anything Goes

After my plan A was a total epic fail, this is plan B..... a tag.  It's a cute tag!  I choose to work with Reeces Scrap Pieces - Homemade Goodness, image and digi paper.  There are 3 images and 3 digi papers with this set.  I colored the image with water and regular color pencils.  There is a burlap and scrap material (from my son's mummy costume I made him one year) behind the image.

The base tag is made of cork.  Burlap string, twine and ribbon were used to finish of the tag.  From one of the burlap string is a mini spool with a little twine wrapped around it.  I stamped a thanks tag and tied it around the ribbon base.  Viola!

The Male Room - A Moving Part

I'm late, I'm late!!  I'm a little late for The Male Room Challenge!  My days of the week are all messed up with a new schedule going on right now...uugghh!

Anyway, for the next 2 weeks we want to see a moving part on your manly creations.

I went the cute a simple route!  The die-cuts are from MFT (My Favorite Things).  

I needed a little scenery for my bike. I really wanted to cover up the window, but with the bike wheels. it made it very difficult to do so.

I added a little sentiment, that was fitting.  If I really thought ahead, I would I put a sentiment on the pull paper, at least it has an arrow.

Friend with Flair - Home is Love

It's been awhile since I've played Friends with Flair at Unity.  It's not that I don't use my Unity stamps, but sometimes I use Unity sentiments with other company images.  I don't feel like those projects are for Friends with Flair.  I rather my whole card or project be a Unity creation.  I know, I'm being picky.  Anyway, Happy Friday to everyone :o)

I made this card for my cousin in TN, who allowed my family to come and visit.  When you have a big family, you feel like the circus has come to someone's house.  It's a thank you card for putting up with us and showing us a good time.

I used water color pencils and regular color pencils to color the image.  Little lace ribbon on the side.  It's a very simple card.

Inside I stamped a sentiment from another Unity stamp set.

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog - #29 Party Bingo!

Hello Monday!!  We have another great challenge for you at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  For the next 2 weeks it's a Party Bingo challenge!

For this challenge I decided to make a cute little box.  A friend was closing her shop and gave me some boxes and other goodies to create with.  I got to work with the image Lil Frolic-Where's the Buttons by Lacy Sunshine.  I colored it with water color pencils and regular color pencils, actually 2 images.   I fussy cut one of the image and layered on top for added dimension.  Lots of little buttons were used for the buttons in her hair and shoes.  For the top of the box, I used the biggest circle die-cut I had, which only cut out the image.  For the other 2 circles, Martha Stewart large circle cutter was used.  I did a test cut for the top of the box to make sure I picked out the right size.  Since the box is paper mache, it's not perfect.  Only a tiny bit of the circle had to be trimmed on one side. 

The box was painted and decorated with dp on the bottom and very top.  I decided to add wooden buttons on the side bottom piece.  A white ruffle trim is fix to the lid.  (It reminds me of a daisy from the top.)

A cute little cloth tag with a sentiment and some more buttons was added to the pretty box.  I also added some faux stitching around the tag.  You can see the bright yellow painted box.  I did decoupage the whole thing, just to make sure the paper will last wear and tear.

Here's the BINGO grid.  My project was created with the letter G : die-cut, friend/friendship, yellow, buttons, and stitching (real or faux).

The Male Room - Give Us A Giggle

Hello fellow crafty ones :o)  Time for another challenge at The Male Room.  For the next two weeks we want to see creations that give your men a giggle (funny projects).

I think Bugaboo has some funny digi stamps, so this is where I made my choice for an image.

I went with Gus Birthday - Recount.  Gotta love an old fart like him (I think I know some too...lol).  Men seem like they don't mind birthdays, but they do.  It's all about the numbers with men....39 and holding. I colored Gus with my water colorpencils and colorpencils.  The dp was some scrap I had. 

I thought I would keep the funny theme going on in the inside too.  Both sentiments are from Unity Stamp Company.

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog #28 - Scraplift This!

Hello crafty followers!  I'm hoping everyone had some family gatherings for Easter.  Family time is always much needed.
I hope you are all ready for a new challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  Scraplift This! is our new challenge for the next 2 weeks.  Don't let it scare you, just look at all the DT for inspiration to see how easy it can be.

For this challenge you must lift 3 or more elements from Ms Cathy's layout.

I got to use Dr Digi image Dunderton Decorators Ltd to make a card for this challenge.  Some men or more handy than others, but I love this manly image.  Using my water colorpencils and regular colorpencils to color the image as usual.  So...what elements did a scraplift?  The circle outline, striped background, 3 tools instead of flowers, fancy border under the sentiment, brads for the bling.  The circle outline I did with a burlap.  If you make the circle too skinny, it can fall apart.  Make sure you make it wide enough that there is enough fiber to intertwine to hold it together.  On the top picture, you can see I put glossy 3D accent for the glasses.

My man's handy tools are die-cuts from MFT (My Favorite Things).  I bought some thin wood from SU years ago for die-cuts and love it for my tool handles.  The sentiment is from Unity.
