Christmas Bags

It's Friday!!!  This is the last Christmas project I will share this year and it's for Unity's Friends with Flair.  I needed a couple of bags to put money and a gift card inside.  This is what I did.

Using some canvas bags I had, I stamped the image with Staz On (hopefully the image will last).  The image is from Unity's stamp set Christmas Wishes.

Some bling and ribbon was needed to jazz it up a bit.  I thought about sewing the ribbon on, but it was easier to glue it on the bag.  Make sure you put a thick cardstock or cardboard between, even when you stamp the image.  I had to Stickle the heart for a little bling.

Here's another bag I made using the same stamp set.

This was the first bag I made.  I learned that you need to press and let the stamp set for a few for a darker image.  Again, ribbon and twine was used on the bottom.

This time I used Liquid Pearls for the star.  These were very easy to make.  Hope everyone had a great Christmas and thank goodness a new year is on it's way!!

thanks for looking and reading :o)

Sending Peace & Comfort

We had two fallen angels in my family within a day and half of each other.  It seems like every year I do more sympathy cards than I really want to and too close to the holidays.  Sometimes I think sympathy cards are the prettiest though.

Here's my card for my Great Aunt that I was named after.

I used the sketch from cardabilities.  The image Flower Angel is a digi from Eureka, it also comes in rubber.  I choose this image because my great aunt did sing gospel music and played the piano and organ.  She had a voice of an angel.

Here's a close-up.  I colored with water colorpencils and regular colorpencils.  Put Stickles on the dots, to give the angel some sparkle.

Inside I left blank to leave my Uncle and cousins some love.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

Love to Scrap! Challenge #20 - How Sketchy is That!

Well, this year is almost over, thank goodness!!  Before it ends though, we have one more challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  It's one of my favorites, a sketch challenge.  We are being sponsored by Eureka Stamps, the winner will receive 5 images of choice.  How awesome is that!

Here is the sketch for this challenge.  The sketch is provided by Starry Nights Studio Sketch 6.

Here's my take using Dragon Blowing Candles image.

I don't think he is going to get his wish that way.  The image was colored by water colorpencils and regular colorpencils.  The image was fussy cut out.  The orange ribbon was used to pop some extra color.

He really is a cute dragon!

Here's the inside, using a Stampin' Up sentiment.

Hope to see you in the challenge!

Stuffed with Joy

Today is Friday!!!  I'm sharing my second design for my Christmas cards this year.  Since I used Unity stamp set for my creation, I'm entering the Friends with Flair today only at Unity.  I tried to keep it simple this year  with my cards.  I didn't want to overwhelm myself.

I used the Unity stamp set Stuffed with Joy Stockings.  Sponged the edges on the image and added ribbon to the bottom.  Just a little brad on the top of the sentiment.

Try to keep it the same for the inside.  The  inside sentiment is from Stampin' Up.

I made 10 sage colored ones and 10 red ones.   Simple and easy!

Sending a Little Christmas

I almost didn't make my Christmas cards this year, but I felt I would be letting some people down if I didn't.  A couple of my friends and family members say they look forward to see what I create each year.  That just makes you smile and want to create.  I didn't do what I have done in the past with my cards.  Instead of creating 5 different designs of cards and making 10 of each.  This year I made 2 designs and made 20 of each.  Yes, I even cut some from my list :o(  I figured if I haven't received a card in the past 3 years from them, then I not making any more cards for them (family is excluding from this clause).

Here's one of my designs for this year.  Sorry it has been dark and gloomy here, so the pics are dark and off color to me.

I kept the design pretty simple so I could get them done pretty fast.  The coloring takes the most time.

I used MFT Pure Innocence Sending You a Little Christmas stamp.

The paper is Stampin' Up, except for the white which is MFT.  I'm trying to use up some old paper and I did.  The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

The inside sentiment is from the same MFT stamp set.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog #19 - Let's Get In Shape

Is it really December already?  Wowzeers!!  Well, it's time for another challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  This time we don't want to see squares and/or rectangles, just some shapes.  That means any shape you want to do, but no squares of any kind allowed.

It's so wonderful to have Lacy Sunshine sponsor another challenge for us. The images are fun and sassy, just down right adorable.  The winner of this challenge will recieve 5 images of their choice from Lacy Sunshine.

I haven't done too many shape cards, I guess I find them challenging.  For this challenge I thought about doing a mitten shape, but when I saw Krystal sitting on a round ornament in this image and all the circles, I knew what needed to be done.  I made a big ornament to put the image on.

I colored my image with water colorpencils and regular colorpencils.  Glitter was needed for the snow. Flocking powder was used to give depth to the fur on her outfit.  I had to sponge the outer edge of the circle to the image, there was a square shadow I had to hide, ssshhh (no square challenge).  I used a tab punch to make the top of the ornament and tied a ribbon and twine around the tab.  I know it is hard to see, but I used crushed ribbon to make stripes on my ornament.

The inside was kept very simple.  I just added a few snowflakes with a short, but very true sentiment.

Another two week challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog is starting today.  We are looking for masculine project for our Boyz Rule challenge.  This challenge is being sponsored by QKR Stampede and the winner will receive 5 images of their choice.

Here's my card for this challenge using QKR Stampede Old Car digi image.

I like old timey stuff.  You can't go wrong with a manly project using a car.  The image was colored by my handy dandy pencils, water and regular.  I sponged the edges with distress ink.  Very simple and easy.  The Tim Holtz Destinations paper with cars was perfect for the background.

Inside the card, I used license plate dp from the same Tim Holtz pack.

I hope to see you join our challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog

Cannot Cure Stupidity

My dad had surgery the same week as my MIL, but my dad forgot to tell me.  He thought when my older brother called him, that my brother would call me and tell me.  Well, let's just say I was surprised when I got a phone call saying "Well, your dad just went back for surgery".  Just didn't hit too well at first.  Anyway, it was just a hernia.

Here's the card I made for him using the Bugaboos Stella Says Sketch #145.

I figured the sentiment was good for not telling his ONLY daughter he was having surgery.  He got a kick out of it.  It's great to have a realtionship where you can tease one another.  The sketch is a little off, because I printed the sentiment a little to large to put the image over the first stripe.  Okay, maybe the image was a little too big.  Anyway, it's not perfect!

I really like Stella.  Maybe cause I can sense her personality.

I colored her with my handy dandy water colorpencils and regular colorpencils.  The striped dp was a .15 cent bargain.

Here's the inside:

I'm wishing to enter this card in the following challenges:

Friends with Flair - Thinking of You

It's been awhile since I've gotten to play in Friends with Flair at Unity Stamps.  It's not that I'm not using my Unity stamps, just haven't been able to post to the Flair.  My MIL had surgery last week, so the boys and I decided she needed some cards to cheer her up. (She was very excited about them)

 Here's Ethan's creation:  He is 8 1/2

He went with green paper and he liked the clocks for the dp.  For some reason, he likes my die-cutter. I've noticed he makes up excuses to use it.  Smart kid!

Here's Liam's creation: He is just 3

Liam went with blue, because it's his favorite color right now.  He said she needed some hearts like the girl's head.  So, we added hearts for love.

Here's mine creation:  Always 39 and holding

I used Unity's Sending My Love.  It was the first time I've inked up this stamp and it felt good to use something that has been waiting.  I thought yellow would be a cheerful color.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

stamps used: Unity Sending my Love

paper used: bazzill, Hambly Screenprints-Mod Circles, Scraps

die-cuts: MFT Oval Stax 1&2

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog #17 - Anything Goes

Another month and another challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  This year has flown by and so many life changes this year.  I'm just getting back from Disney and had a wonderful time with the younger kids.  Liam is now 3 :o( He got to see all his favorite characters for his birthday.  One happy baby boy :o)

Time to get on with the challenge, it's a favorite.......Anything Goes!  This challenge is being sponsored by My Crafty Heart.  The winner will receive £10 voucher (approximately $16)  to the store.

Here is my card for the challenge:

It's a birthday card for my brother's better half.  I really like her, because she keeps him in line.  Even a retired Navy Chief needs to be put in his place at times and she can put up with him.  She is a classy lady and lets you know she is the queen.  She also believes that you have a birthday month to celebrate.  I used MFT DG Party Time image and the sentiment came from Unity - All Hail the Queen Bee.  The funny thing, my brother bought her a card, it also said "All Hail the Birthday Queen".  We all know who's the boss.

This is the first time I tried the 3-D layer effect.  It's not perfect, but I want to try again with a different image maybe.  It's like putting a puzzle together, but you make the puzzle then put it together.  I found this amazing woman, Mariska who has it down to a science and has wonderful tutorials.  It always amazes me the talent out on blogland.  (I think I would do the head differently next time.  It's all about learning)  I know Mariska like to color the back image black or grey, but I realized I liked coloring it the same color.  Just have to play with it.

Give it a try and enter the Anything Goes challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

Love to Scrap Challenge #16 - Play Some Blues

It's hard to believe October is half over.  My little guy turns 3 on the 30th of this month and he gets to celebrate at the happiest place on earth...Disney.  I wish I could keep him little forever, he is the sweetest.

I guess I better get on with the challenge at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  For the next 2 weeks we want to see projects with only shades of blues.  Remember there must be a stamp and/or digital image on your project.  We are being sponsored by Delicious Doodles.  The winner will receive 4 images of their choice.  I hope you will join us for our challenge for the next 2 weeks.

Here's my card using Ivy Fairy image (the shading you see on the image will be on the image you purchase).  I thought she was rather sexy and even sexier as a red-head.  The red really stands out with the blue hues.

I colored the image with water colorpencils, then regular colorpencils.

I used Star Dust Stickles on the wings to give the fairy her sparkle.  Layered some blue papers and a blue ribbon to finish off the blue challenge.

Of course, I always finish the inside of my cards.

I hope you will join us at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog for our blue challenge!

Tuesday Teapotters - bling for Bella

It's been awhile again for the me to participate in a Tuesday Teapotters, but I couldn't stay away from this one.  I know I'm a little late.  We are traveling to MT for a 4 year old girl with cancer.  She will be recieving treatments for the next 2 years.  This might not be her only tea party.  The challenge for Bella's card was simple, girlie (lots of pink) and lots of bling.

Here's the inspiration teapot and cookies:

Here's my card for Isabella:

It's not too much bling, but lots of sparkle.  I used pink glitter paper to make sparkle.  Just a little bit of bling on the side.  Hopefully this is girlie and has the bling (sparkle) that was needed for the challenge.

Fall Sympathy

I love the fall colors and they are usually my favorite colors to use when creating a project.  When creating sympathy cards, I go with purple or blue colors, I guess they seem like calm colors.  I needed to make a sympathy card for my husband's co-worker who lost his father.  His father lived in Mississippi and had a beautiful southern style porch on some beautiful property.  I decided to use MFT IB the Front Porch-Fall for my image.

I didn't want to color in the image.  It's not suppose to be a bright happy card, but a humble card.  There was enough color with the paper choices and going with fall colors.

There are some fall, but not Halloween challenges going on, so I'm hoping this fall sympathy card is okay to enter into some challenges.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog #15 Recipe

It's October and fall.....my favorite season.  I love summer, but it's something about the fall.  We have a new a challenge for you at Love to Scrap! Challenge Blog.  It's a recipe; 3 papers (plain or pattern), 2 flowers and 1 die cut.  My image was picked out before I really looked at the challenge, so...it was a challenge with the flowers and a Halloween scene.

We are being sponsored by Bugaboo Digi Stamps.  The winner of this challenge will receive 7 digis.  Bugaboo is another one of my favorite places to get digis.  Every Friday, they give you a free digi download.  Check out their website.

Once I realized I had to use flowers, a card wouldn't do.  This is what I came up with....a witch hat.  I was thinking about doing a mix media canvas, which I'm still doing to hang up on my wall, but I saw this hat at Michael's.  Paper mache hat turned into magical witch's hat with paint, paper, flowers, and a ribbon.  I painted the whole hat black, just because it needed to seem finished...completely.

To make sure the paper fit just right, a lot of measuring and tracing was done.  The bottom actually slipped right over the pointed top and fitted perfectly in place.  The cone took some time to get together.  Being paper mache, it's not perfectly shaped and lots of trimming needed to be done.

The die-cut for the recipe is the patch work on the hat.  The image lays on top of the die-cut a little, but I  liked the look of it.  I picked out some metal flowers, but these satin flowers were a great touch instead.

The ribbon is from Ribbon Carousel.  Where the ribbon met, I put some pearls to finish the look.  You may use ribbon, brads, and bling on the recipe challenge.  I used stickles on the tree and the stars.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

I would like to enter my hat in the following challenges:
