Birthday Card for Dad

My dad's birthday is coming up.  He will receive this card as soon as he returns from his golfing trip down in MS.  Twenty plus men go every year to play golf and have guy time.  I decided to use Bugaboo digi Gus Golf for my card and Bugaboo sketch challenge #133.

Here's the sketch:

Here's my take:

This card is rather large, 5.75 x 8.75 (A9).  I printed out my digi and realized if I wanted to make the sketch work, it had to be a big card.  I colored the image with water color and regular color pencils.  I thought Gus needed to be a little outrageous in his choice of outfits.  My dad and his buddies have crazy sock, crazy pants and crazy etc days when they play during the week.  The DP had to be plaid.

I popped up the image and the sentiment.  It can look bulky if you don't with the twine underneath.

Gus is such a cranky funny guy, I can't belive there is a challenge for things that make you laugh.  So, I'm entering this card in the Tip Top Tuesday challenge ROFL.

A little birthday wish in the inside.  I think it's a card my dad will be happy to receive.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

I'm entering this card in the following challenges:

stamps used: Bugaboo digi Gus Golf, Unity Fore!!!! (time to par-tee), Recollections Happy Birthday Doodles

paper used: SU DP, SU Green, SU Grey, Dark Blue from Hobby Lobby

embellishements: Michael's Screw Brad Asst., MFT Twine

Freinds with Flair - Robot

I missed last week's Unity Friends with Flair due to traveling for my younger brother's wedding, but I had so much fun!! I'm here this week with a robot birthday card.  Birthday cards around here are a must need, especially boy cards.  Four boys here, 5 nephews and 1 niece finally, so lots of boys.

Easy card (sorry the sun is harsh this morning).  I used Unity's Hubba Hubba stamp.  It's suppose to be for Valentine, but it's a robot and boys love robots, so it's a birthday robot for this card.

You can  see the silver coloring from this angle.  Put some brads for it's eyes.

The sentiment for the inside came from Unity's "Party all day".

Hope everyone has a great weekend !!!  thanks for looking and reading :o)

I'm going to enter this card in the following challenges:

stamps used: Unity Hubba Hubba, Unity Party all Day, SU Lots of Bots (for outside sentiment)

paper used: SU Sage, SU Basic Brown, Scraps, Crate Paper Orbit Collections-Satellite

embellishments: Paper Studios - Oh Boy Brad Asst

Love to Scrap - Emboss It!!

Welcome to our second challenge at Love to Scrap!! Challenge Blog.  It's emboss it! Our sponsor is The Crafting Boutique and the winner will receive $10 shopping spree from our sponsor!!  Stacy's store is brand new, it's a great pleasure for her to be sponsoring this challenge for us.

Not only did I dry emboss, but I also did a little heat embossing too.  I thought this bird was cute and needed a jungle look.  I used MFT vine die-cut which is a wiggly vine and did lots of cutting to get it to fit around the circle.

You can see that the "hello" was embossed with embossing powder.  I also inked the dry emboss to make it stand out a little more.  The Cockatoo was colored with watercolor pencils (Faber-Castell) and regular Prismacolor pencils.

Thanks for looking and reading :o)  Good-luck to all that enter.

Knowing that it is March, there has to be some green challenges to enter this card in.

The Sisterhood of Crafters - Make'em Green with Envy
Jen's Digi Stamps - Going Green
Wags n' Whiskers - Go Green

paper used: SU Basic Brown, SU DP, SU Old Olive, MFT Sour Apple

embellishments: SU Sizzix Flourish ef, black embossing powder

Tuesday Teapotters - Sweet Hobbies

The Teapotters are going to Raleigh, NC for a fellow teapotter.  Ms Linda has been going through chemo for her cancer and is unable to craft in Teapotterville. We are sending "Bug Higs" her way.  The challenge: Ms Linda was in a lot of Hobbies: ceramics, woodworking, photography or garden themes

here's the inspirational teapot:

Toy Shop teapot, who wouldn't have fun in a toy shop.

I went with the photography hobby route.  My husband loves photography, so I had lots to work with.  I used MFT Behind the Camera Die-namics for the camera.  Couple film strip ribbon and adhesive tape film, which is hard to see because it's behind the sentiment, but they have pics on them. The layout is the MFT weekly sketch

I turned the sketch around.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

stamps used:  MFT Behind the Camera, MFT PI Little Shutterbug (sentiment)

paper used: Hot off the Press - Silver Linen, Scraps, Brazzill

Friends with Flair - Thinking of You

It's Friends with Flair at Unity and I really love to see everyone else's projects.  I needed a sympathy card, but decided to use thinking about you instead.  Choosing the images from February's KOM knowing the person was a master gardener.

I used the basket, ivy and flowers, then fussy cut them out.  Even though I used brown ink for the basket and  olive for the ivy, I still colored them with my color pencils to give them more depth.  The sentiment is also from the KOM.

I had my whole inside figured out using the KOM to realize there is a stamp missing.....  ummm.  I went to the website and their KOM  is a little different from mine, it omits the missing stamp.  So I left it blank for now. ( the stamp said "May the memory of your LOVED one")

thanks for looking and reading :o)  have a great weekend !!

Design Team Call For Sister Act Card Challenge

A brand new card challenge blog called Sister Act Card Challenge is looking for a design team.  To enter you must choose your 3 favorite cards and post them in a blog post, then link it up to their blog.  This should be easy to do, NOT!!   It's hard to choose when everyone has different taste and your not sure what they are looking for, or maybe there are more than 3 you really like.  So, here are the cards I picked as my all-time favorites: (I'm sure if I was ask to do this tomorrow, there would be different cards on this post)

I hope you like these choices.  Good-luck to all the other talented young ladies out there :o)

Tuesday Teapotters - Cactus Flowers

The traveling Teapotters are going to Wisconsin this week to send Jean some loving.  Ms Jean has colon cancer and went through chemo, but they found a tumor on her ovary that's too cancerous.  The challenge, Ms Jean was a hairdresser and loves cacti flowers (just flowers in general), so we are to bring hairdressers, cactus, cacti flowers or flowers.  Here's the inspirational teapots:

I didn't have any hairdresser stuff or cacti in my stamping stuff, but flowers I did.  Here's my card:

Using Unity Andi Girl - cares for what she loves image because there are lots of flowers in this image.  More flowers were brought in by the design paper.  I thought the tangy orange paper was like the desert. Some netted ribbon on the bottom for texture, brads on top and viola.

thank for looking and reading :o)

don't forgot LOVE TO SCRAP!! Challenge Blog started Monday with a Anything Goes challenge.  Link up your projects

paper used: SU designer paper, MFT Berrylicious, MFT Tangy Orange

embellishments: Ribbon Carousel netted ribbon, liquid pearls, making memories brads

My baby brother (who is 29) is finally getting married in a couple of weeks.  He has done things backwards, but gotta love him anyway.  This is the card I decided to make for his wedding.

I used the Bugaboo digi image Stella & Gus Marriage-Marriage Secret.  The wedding colors are plum and gray.  I colored the images with watercolor pencils and regular pencils. I even put a little blue in Stella's hair.  Funny thing is, this could be my hubby and I giving them advice.... lol.

A ribbon wrapped around the corner and a gray triple bow with a hat pin was added to the top that ribbon.

thanks for looking and reading :o)

i hope to see many of you in the gallery!!  Good-luck to you!!
